Mattress Warehouse Announces Strong Support for Frederick County’s Homeless Youth

Frederick-based Mattress Warehouse is the premier sponsor of SHIP’s Sleepover for Homeless Youth campaign which kicks off on the National Day of Volunteerism on Tuesday, September 11th. Designed to increase awareness of the growing trend of youth experiencing homelessness in Frederick County and generate critical funding for relief services provided by SHIP of Frederick County, the campaign concludes with a mega-SleepOver on Saturday, October 13th, 2018 at Tuscarora High School Stadium.

Over 800 students in the Frederick County Public Schools System experienced some form of homelessness last school year. Student Homelessness Initiative Partnership (SHIP) of Frederick County, a local nonprofit charity formed in 2014, works intimately with the local school system, providing food, new clothing, funding for enrichment activities, emergency shelter, and the in-school New Horizons counseling program providing homeless high school students access to a wide range of resources to help them complete their secondary education and break the cycle of poverty.

Mattress Warehouse is not only supporting the SleepOver campaign but is issuing a call to other Frederick-based companies and organizations to lend a hand and help support homeless youth.

Participants can register for the SleepOver campaign at www.shipfrederick.com/sleepover. All registered participants are asked to either join an existing team or to create one themselves for others to join. The registration fee is $25, and each participant is asked to raise $150 in additional fundraising to support SHIP’s mission and program services. Mattress Warehouse is providing special prizes including beds and luxury pillows for those fundraisers who generate the most funds.
